Community Standards
standards-beta-1.1Care before advice. Consent before curiosity.
PosMeet welcomes people living with HSV, HIV or HPV and allies who are ready to listen with care. These rules apply to Community, Circles, profiles, images, reactions and live voice rooms.
Belonging without disclosure
No one owes a diagnosis, real name, face, timeline or explanation to participate.
Experience, not treatment
Personal stories are welcome. Diagnosis and prescriptive medical direction are not.
Connection with consent
Warm social connection is welcome; hookups and unwanted sexual attention are not.
Safety with due process
Members can block and report; enforcement considers evidence, severity and context.
A standard for a sensitive community
Six commitments to each other
These are the six platform commitments. Registration links the full Standards, while contribution surfaces repeat a shorter reminder near Publish. The sections below explain how each commitment works.
01
Share experience, not prescriptions.
Say what happened to you. Do not diagnose someone or direct their treatment.
02
Challenge claims, not people.
Disagreement is allowed. Stigma, humiliation and pile-ons are not.
03
Protect every person’s privacy.
Never out, identify, screenshot or expose another member without permission.
04
Respect consent and boundaries.
Sexual-health conversation is welcome. Sexual solicitation and pressure are not.
05
Be real without revealing your real name.
Pseudonyms are welcome; impersonation, scams and hidden interests are not.
06
Use peer support for peer support.
PosMeet is not emergency care, a clinic, a marketplace or a research recruitment list.
Community-specific rules may add a narrower topic or format boundary, but they cannot weaken these platform-wide protections.
Protect privacy. Never out someone.
A detail that seems harmless can connect a pseudonym to a real person, workplace, clinic or partner.
- Do not post or threaten to post another person’s diagnosis, test result, medication, clinic, address, workplace, location, phone number, email or legal name.
- Do not share private messages, room conversations, screenshots, recordings or identifying story details outside their intended audience without clear permission.
- Do not investigate, correlate or reveal who is behind an anonymous contribution. This includes matching writing style, rare details, images or off-platform accounts.
- Never share intimate media or medical documents belonging to someone else. Consent to send something privately is not consent to repost it.
Good fit
“Describe how disclosure felt in your own relationship without naming or identifying the other person.”
Not okay
“Post a screenshot of an ex-partner’s test result or threaten to reveal their status.”
Pseudonymous does not mean impossible to identify
Respect people without stigma
Disagree with a claim or choice without reducing the person to a diagnosis, sexual history or identity.
- No slurs, dehumanizing language, ridicule, threats, bullying or targeted humiliation.
- No stigma or discrimination based on HSV, HIV or HPV status; symptoms; treatment choice; disability; sexual history; disclosure decision; race; religion; sex; gender identity; sexual orientation or another protected or vulnerable characteristic.
- No dogpiling, raids, coordinated reactions or directing an audience to harass someone.
- No repeated contact after someone blocks you, leaves a room or asks you to stop.
Good fit
“I had a different experience with disclosure, and this is what helped me.”
Not okay
“People who made that disclosure choice are irresponsible and deserve what happens.”
Share health experience without practising medicine
Lived experience is the value of this community. Turning one experience into treatment instructions can create real harm.
Welcome here
- — What you noticed or felt
- — Questions for the community
- — How you prepared for a clinician visit
- — Research discussion with a credible source
- — Good-faith correction or debunking
Not allowed
- — Diagnosing another member
- — Telling someone to start, stop or change treatment
- — False cures or fabricated medical claims
- — Discouraging testing or qualified care
- — Commercially motivated pseudo-advice
When you present a treatment or transmission claim as a general fact, provide a credible source and describe uncertainty. Moderators may ask for a source, add context, limit distribution or remove a claim based on likely harm, urgency, reach, deceptive intent and repetition—not merely because a view is unpopular.
Good fit
“My clinician and I chose this treatment; here is how I felt. Ask your own clinician whether it fits you.”
Not okay
“Stop your prescription and use this cure instead. Doctors hide it from you.”
Respect consent and personal boundaries.
The community can be warm, personal and social without turning vulnerability into access to someone’s body or private life.
- No hookup posts, sexual propositions, fetishizing a diagnosis or rating people’s desirability.
- No unsolicited explicit text or images, sexual harassment, coercion, grooming or pressure to disclose.
- No repeated requests for contact details, private chat, photos, a call or an off-platform meeting.
- No manipulating a member’s fear, diagnosis or isolation to obtain intimacy, money, housing or another benefit.
- No sexual content involving anyone under 18, including real, altered, illustrated or synthetic media.
Sexual health is allowed; sexual targeting is not
Be authentic and disclose interests
You may use a pseudonym. You may not use a false role, hidden motive or automated behavior to manipulate trust.
- Do not impersonate a member, clinician, nonprofit, moderator, partner or PosMeet representative.
- Official and partner posts must use their assigned label and clearly disclose relevant interests.
- No spam, scams, referral harvesting, reaction manipulation, coordinated reporting or ban evasion.
- No medication sales, controlled-substance transactions or requests for money.
- No research recruitment, surveys, journalism outreach, fundraising, promotion or commercial solicitation without prior written PosMeet approval and a visible disclosure.
- No scraping, surveillance, training datasets or attempts to re-identify members.
An Official label means PosMeet controls the publishing account. It is not medical endorsement. A Partner label must identify the organization and any relevant relationship.
Use images and documents with extra care
The current beta is a peer community, not a clinical image-review service.
- Upload only media you created or have permission and legal rights to share.
- Do not upload explicit sexual activity, genital imagery, intimate media or exploitative content.
- Do not upload IDs, test forms, prescriptions or clinic documents that expose you or someone else.
- Mark supported sensitive media when appropriate. A blur is a content warning, not access control; another member can choose to reveal it.
- Removing hidden metadata does not hide visible faces, names, addresses, barcodes, reflections or background details. Review the image yourself before posting.
PosMeet may reject or remove media, hold uncertain high-risk uploads for review, and permanently remove accounts connected to child sexual abuse material or non-consensual intimate imagery.
Make voice rooms feel safe to enter and easy to leave
Room rules apply to what is said, played, shown, recorded and done through room controls.
- Listening quietly is welcome. Speaking and personal disclosure are always optional.
- Wait for the host to approve a hand request and keep your microphone off when not speaking.
- Do not pressure someone to reveal a diagnosis, location, relationship details or real identity.
- Do not record, transcribe, rebroadcast, voice-clone or quote-identify another participant without explicit permission.
- Hosts and co-hosts may mute or remove someone for immediate room safety; that does not replace a platform report.
- Use the room or participant report path during or after the room when review is needed.
Evidence has limits
Urgent medical or crisis situations need qualified help
Peers can stay with a feeling; they cannot replace local emergency, crisis or clinical care.
- For urgent physical symptoms or possible exposure, contact a qualified clinician or local emergency service.
- For immediate danger, suicide or self-harm risk, contact an appropriate local crisis or emergency service.
- Do not promise secrecy when someone may be in immediate danger or encourage them to avoid professional help.
- Do not use crisis language to manipulate, punish or force contact from another member.
A safety report may help PosMeet prioritize review and privately surface support resources, but the report queue is not continuously monitored emergency dispatch. Do not wait for a moderator when time matters.
Open the Safety Center Sign-in requiredReport a member, post or room, review your private report history, or find help beyond PosMeet.Report for review. Block for immediate distance.
You never have to confront a person before using a safety control.
Block
Create immediate distance. The other member is not notified of the block.
Report
Privately send the content or behavior to authorized safety reviewers.
Leave or mute
Exit a room or silence a participant first; explain later only if you choose.
A report can preserve a restricted snapshot of the reported content or room participants for review even if the original is later edited or removed. PosMeet does not disclose the reporter’s identity to the reported member. Your report history shows a simplified status, not other people’s evidence or moderator identity.
Do not submit false reports, coordinate mass reports or use reporting to punish disagreement. The number of reports alone does not decide whether a rule was broken.
How PosMeet enforces these standards
The response should fit the harm. Education can help with a mistake; severe abuse does not require a warning first.
Guide
Context, source request, private reminder or formal warning.
Contain
Add a warning, reduce distribution, lock replies, remove content or place media in review.
Restrict
Temporarily limit posting, images, room hosting or voice participation.
Suspend
Use a short or longer account suspension based on severity, pattern and history.
Remove
Permanently remove accounts for severe or repeated harm, exploitation or enforcement evasion.
Review should consider the likely harm, context, intent, repetition, audience, member vulnerability, account history and whether the person corrected the issue. PosMeet may preserve narrowly scoped evidence and report unlawful material where required.
An action notice should name the rule, affected content or behavior, action, duration and available review path. Eligible notices appear in the member’s private Account status, where one active appeal can show its deadline, timeline and outcome. The original decision operator cannot review or resolve that appeal. A successful review restores content or account standing where the corrective action supports it.
These standards are part of the product
Questions about how a rule applies can be sent privately through Help & feedback. Product feedback is not an emergency channel or a substitute for a safety report.
